LEGAL & PRIVACY
Last updated: 26 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the FT Solar Planner mobile application (“FTSPlanner”, the “App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the App on iOS and Android. It applies to the App and to the related backend services that power it.
1. Who we are
FTSPlanner is published under the developer identity Yv1K (application ID tools.foresee.solar.planner). For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at:
• Email: solar@foresee.tools
• Support: support@foresee.tools
• Policy URL: https://www.foresee.tools/privacy
2. Summary of what we collect

Advertising • Advertising identifiers and ad-related device data • Show ads to Free-plan users only • Free plan only
We do not collect your name at sign-up, we do not handle or store your payment card details, and we do not track your location in the background.
3. Information we collect and why
3.1 Account information
When you register, we collect your email address and a password. Your password is never stored in readable form — it is protected using one-way hashing (bcrypt) on our servers. We also store a username associated with your account. We use this to create your account, authenticate you, verify your email address, and let you reset your password.
3.2 Profile and preferences
We store settings that personalize the App: language, locale, currency, timezone, country code, dark-mode preference, and your email communication opt-in. These display the App in the right format for your region and respect your communication choices.
3.3 Content you create
The App is built around content you create: solar projects, component libraries (consumers, transformers, batteries, panels), circuits, scenarios, and computation results. Some of this content includes the geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude) of a solar site that you enter manually or capture with the “Locate me” button. We store this content so your work is saved, synced across your devices, and available offline.
3.4 Location data
The App can access your device’s location only when you explicitly tap the “Locate me” button to fill in the coordinates of a solar site. When you do, we request foreground location permission and read your current coordinates once.
• Location is used only to pre-fill site coordinates for a computation.
• We do not access location in the background.
• If you deny the permission, the App simply does nothing and you can type coordinates manually.
3.5 Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions (Starter and Pro plans) and the optional 7-day Pro trial are processed through the app stores (Apple App Store / Google Play) and managed by our subscription provider, RevenueCat. We receive and store your subscription and trial status to unlock the right features. We identify your subscription using an internal account identifier (a random UUID) — we never receive or store your payment card or bank details.
3.6 Diagnostics and crash reports
To keep the App stable, we use Sentry for crash and error reporting. Reports are configured to exclude personal data: we disable default personal-data collection (including IP addresses) and filter out sensitive fields such as passwords, authentication tokens, email addresses, phone numbers, and coordinates before a report is sent. A report may include your internal account identifier (UUID), your plan, and the screen where an error occurred, to help us reproduce the problem.
3.7 Usage analytics
Where enabled, we use Firebase Analytics to understand how features are used (for example, that a project was created or a computation was run) so we can improve the App.
• In regions with applicable privacy laws (for example the EU/EEA, United Kingdom, Canada, and South Africa), analytics is off by default and is only enabled after you accept it through the in-app consent prompt.
• Analytics events are stripped of personal data (emails, phone numbers, coordinates, and IP-like values are removed) before being sent.
• The only profile-level properties associated with analytics are your plan, language, country, and app version.
• We do not perform automatic screen-by-screen tracking.
3.8 Advertising
If you are on the Free plan, the App shows banner ads through Google AdMob.
• Ads are not shown to Starter or Pro subscribers, or during an active trial.
• Where required, the App requests non-personalized ads.
• AdMob may process advertising identifiers and standard device information to serve and measure ads, subject to Google’s policies.
4. How your information is stored
• On your device: login tokens are stored securely using the platform’s encrypted storage (iOS Keychain / Android EncryptedSharedPreferences). App content is cached locally so the App works offline; this cache is cleared when it expires or when you sign out.
• On our servers: your account, preferences, and content are stored in our managed PostgreSQL database. Passwords are stored hashed; refresh tokens are stored hashed and can be revoked.
• Data location: our diagnostics provider (Sentry) processes data in the European Union. Other providers may process data in the regions described in their own privacy policies (see Section 6).
5. How we use your information
• create, secure, and operate your account;
• provide the core solar sizing features and save your work;
• run computations you request (which require an internet connection);
• manage subscriptions, trials, and plan entitlements;
• send you service emails (email verification, password reset, and — if you have opted in — trial reminders);
• diagnose crashes and improve reliability and performance;
• understand feature usage (where you have consented) to improve the App;
• show ads to Free-plan users; and
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. When we share information (third parties)
We share data only with service providers that help us run the App, and only for the purposes above. Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy:
Provider • Purpose • Data shared
Our backend API • Store and sync your account and content • Account data, preferences, project content (incl. site coordinates)
RevenueCat • Subscription and trial management • Internal account identifier (UUID), subscription/trial status
Apple App Store / Google Play • Process payments for subscriptions • Handled by the stores; we receive status only
Sentry • Crash and error diagnostics • Error data, internal identifier (UUID), plan, screen — personal fields filtered out
Firebase Analytics (Google) • Usage analytics (consent-based where required) • Non-identifying interaction events; plan, language, country, app version
Google AdMob • Advertising to Free-plan users • Advertising identifiers and standard device data
Resend • Delivery of service emails • Your email address and the email content
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a corporate transaction, in each case consistent with this policy.
7. Your choices and rights
• Location: grant or deny location permission at any time in your device settings. You can always enter coordinates manually.
• Analytics: where the consent prompt applies, you can accept or decline analytics. Declining does not affect core functionality.
• Ads: upgrade to a paid plan (or start a trial) to remove ads. You can also manage ad personalization through your device settings.
• Marketing emails: you can opt out of trial-reminder emails using the unsubscribe link or in the App’s settings. Service emails (verification, password reset) are required for account operation.
• Access, correction, deletion: depending on your region (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, PIPEDA, or POPIA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@ftsolar.app. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
To request deletion of your account and associated personal data, email privacy@ftsolar.app from your account email address.
8. Data retention
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where we are required to retain certain records to comply with legal, tax, or security obligations. Local caches on your device are removed when they expire or when you sign out. Diagnostic and analytics data are retained for limited periods according to each provider’s retention settings.
9. Children’s privacy
FTSPlanner is a professional tool intended for adults (homeowners, installers, and energy consultants). It is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at privacy@ftsolar.app and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including password hashing (bcrypt), hashed and revocable refresh tokens, short-lived access tokens, encrypted on-device token storage, and transport encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for all network communication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
11. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than the one you live in, including by the providers listed in Section 6. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for international transfers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
